C-CARERS: Centering Caregivers in Alzheimer's Research on Equity, Representation, Services and Supports
The C-CARERS Project (“see carers”) aims to use community-engaged approaches to conduct an exploratory sequential mixed-methods study to understand the diverse experiences and expectations of dementia caregivers from rural and underserved communities in Northern California.
Short-term goals:
- Understand the financial, emotional, and physical impacts of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
- Continue and expand outreach of existing Alzheimer’s and dementia resources and services to underrepresented and rural communities.
Long-term goal:
- Improve the delivery of equity-focused social support and health care services for caregivers and people living with Alzheimer’s or dementia to address the greater prevalence of Alzheimer’s and dementia expected by 2040.
