CHAMPPS

Cognitive Health Assessment Metrics Post Positive Screen (CHAMPPS)

The CHAMPPS project is an extension of the Dementia Care Aware program that was created to investigate the impact of the Cognitive Health Assessment (CHA) in primary care for underserved populations. Specifically, CHAMPPS will look at how new screening programs in primary care using the CHA as the screening approach has led to changes in the number of patients with dementia diagnoses, the content and quality of their evaluations and care plans, and if there are disparities in dementia diagnoses and care.

CHAMPPS is a 4-year research project ending in June 2028 and funded by the California Department of Public Health.  We are a consortium of grantees at the University of California San Francisco, The Lundquist Institute, and Rancho Research Institute.

CHAMPPS Project Goals

Goal 1

Increasing dementia screening, diagnosis of dementia, and care planning in underserved populations.
